Child Obesity

Posted by: portfeed In: Acid Reflux

Weight turns out to be everybody’s main concern these days. Be it is a factory owner worrying over the net weight of his goods which uses modern Industrial scales to monitor the losses, or a pharmacist using Electronic scales for monitoring the correct proportions; weight is everybody’s dilemma. Your body weight is another topic that is most talked about. Not only adults, but children in America too are are increasingly subject to weight disorders. With the outburst of the fast food culture and PS 2 obsession, there is no reasoning to why you might be worried about your child to be called as a “couch potato” by school bullies. Undoubtedly this is a big dilemma. The total percentages of children in America who are obese are nearly sixteen to thirty three percent. Obesity is titled as the “second leading cause of preventable death in America”.

Many people may disagree that if a child does not take much fats, he or she will not have enough nutrients to make him grow strong. What they do not understand is the difference between eating well and over eating. Moreover, studies prove that the eating habits in earlier phase of your life determine your structure for the later stages of your life. Once you have trespassed infancy, your eating habits will decide how heavy you will be when you older. For instance a person may eat a lot as an adult but does not gain a lot of weight; the cause behind he may not have been used to of eating a lot when he was a child. All in all, early eating habits have a major role to play in your weight for the rest of your life.

Now the question is what is the causes of child obesity? The main reason may be the genetic makeup of the child. If one of the two parents is obese, this gives the child a fifty percent chance of being obese. As for both of them being overweight, the possibility is up to eighty percent. However, besides being the main reason, that is not it. The second most frequent of the reasons is that your child might have poor eating habits. This may be because of the ever increasing inclination of kids towards fast food and junk food. Together with this is lack of exercise. Children who continuously sit on the sofa watching TV or playing videogames tend to become more obese than the ones who stay active and athletic. Other causes may be relating to the mental development. Children tend to gain weight due to low self worth or just because they are used to taking too much of mental tensions.

To manage weight disorders, the key area to lay your attention on is a good diet. However, this may not mean you should put your children on diet. All you have to do is control it. Offer children healthy stuff to eat like vegetables, juices and fish. Increase the physical activity of your child, and make him take part in activities and sports. Also you must counsel your child and find out what are the mental tensions or stress he or she is coming across with.

You should emphasize on taking in meals appropriately at the dining area rather than on the sofa. These will maintain a routine of sitting upright while he or she dines. Losing weight may not be very simple once you are in love with food. However, it is not so difficult either. All you have to work with is a little determination and hope. Good luck!
