Chronic fatigue syndrome or CFS is more commonly a term given to disorders that are characterized by a persistent fatigue that is unrelated to exertion and is not relieved by rest. Many have pondered as to the cause of this disorder and come out empty handed. It is believed that the Epstein Barr virus is the cause behind CFS but no one has been able to confirm the claim up to date. it is said that Epstein Barr virus is capable of causing fever, heart problems and swollen glands and could become an affective agent for mononucleosis, herpes and polio while acting on the central nervous system of the body. Although chronic fatigue syndrome and epstein barr virus was thought as one in the past, the claim is not recognized anymore.
Many reasons contributed towards people trying to think of Chronic fatigue syndrome and epstein barr virus as synonymous. Among many reasons, the main was that Chronic fatigue syndrome and epstein barr virus brought on the same set of symptoms. Another reason would be that people who had Chronic fatigue syndrome and epstein barr virus in their bodies would also have a high level of EBV antibodies in their system.
The notion that chronic fatigue syndrome and epstine barr virus are synonymous was dropped when further research proved otherwise. When considering chronic fatigue syndrome and epstein barr, it is important to remember that though the virus may contribute to the development of the syndrome, it is not the sole cause. CFS may in fact be developed due to other weaknesses in the immune deficiency system and by other viruses. The findings that chronic fatigue syndrome and epstine barr virus in fact were not interconnected was further proved when the drug acyclovir; that blocks the multiplication of the EBV is not affective on CFS patients.
There are many factors that cause chronic fatigue syndrome and epstine barr virus. The causes predictably, aren’t the same. Many experts believe that CFS may be caused by a number of issues within the body. Hormonal imbalances, genetic factors, nutritional deficiency, toxins and hypothyroidism are considered to be some plausible causes. One thing that chronic fatigue syndrome and epstine barr virus shares is the EBV that is considered to be responsible for polio and herpes alike. However, their characteristics and way of distribution varies to a large extent in comparison to chronic fatigue syndrome and epstine barr virus.
Therefore, scientists have completely dismissed the idea that epstein barr virus and chronic fatigue syndrome virus are interrelated. In fact they are even considered to be belonging to different types of bodily disorders. Therefore the similarity between chronic fatigue syndrome and epstine barr virus is easy to perceive and the misconception that the two were interrelated was due to such similarities.
