A body cleanse requires the elimination of all red meat, dairy, and processed foods from the diet. The cleanse starts with a one to two day fast, where one consumes only water and fruit juices. After the fast, one may eat only raw fruits and vegetables. This process is meant to help the body purge itself of toxins.
As toxins accumulate, a variety of health problems arise. These can include increased allergy symptoms, chronic fatigue, stress, chronic headaches, lack of energy and depression. The human body is constantly detoxifying itself. The liver breaks down toxins, then they are eliminated through the kidneys, skin, colon and lungs. Give your body a break by consuming only water and fruit juices for a couple of days. This allows your system to rest, since ingestion of toxic chemicals goes way down. You can more easily prepare yourself to get rid of the existing harmful substances your system is harboring.
In addition to fasting and drinking only liquids, either a cleanse diet and/or cleansing products should be used. Diets address the functions of multiple organs in the body. Cleansing products usually target a specific organ in the body, for example, the colon.
Common sense suggests choosing cleansing products with all-natural ingredients. Many already contain stimulants or artificial ingredients, which add to the problem rather than cure it. Many toxins are stored in fat. Generally, a good body cleanse program promotes weight and fat loss. A total cleanse involving fasting, then consumption of raw fruits and vegetables is most effective. This reduces fat and promotes weight loss, two key factors to a successful cleanse.
A cleanse should last no longer than ten days. Do not cleanse for an extended period. This can detrimentally affect an individual. The entire body loses protein, and muscles can atrophy. In addition, anemia, low blood sugar and irregular heartbeat can develop.
A body cleanse can support the natural process of eliminating harmful toxins. When performed over a short period of time, a body cleanse detox helps promote an overall sense of well-being. The cleanse can help a person adopt a healthier lifestyle over the long term.
