The Pharmaceuticals Industry And FDA Compliance

Posted by: portfeed In: Health

When asked what affects their life in a major way, very few people would cite pharmaceuticals as a factor. But it is a fact that most of us since our birth depend on pharmaceuticals in one-way or other. We need more help through medicines as we get older but even young healthy people will need them at some time. FDA Compliance ensures that the drugs we take are as safe as possible.

Pharmaceuticals play a vital role in our day-to-day living. And hence their rising costs are destined to be our major concern. You cannot ignore your need for medicines no matter how much they damage your finances. If a person is suffering from a certain disease and the doctor prescribes him a medicine, he must purchase it whether it suits his pocket or not. So the prices of drugs need to be watched and regulated so that pharmaceutical companies do not rip off patients. As of now many market leaders are found to price their monopoly drugs at a very high rate.

Research and drug development is another area where the big companies keep an interest in. Every year millions of pounds are spent on R & D. Based on market requirements and demands, companies try hard to invent a suitable drug to cure any ailment. However once any drug has been developed it must be passed by the regulating authority, the FDA. FDA compliance governs the stages of research, development and manufacture that have been undergone for any new drug before being exposed to consumers. A drug can only be sold to the public once it has passed the compliance regulations.

Animal and human tests are conducted on the drugs before they are given to the FDA for approval. During these tests the effectiveness of the drug will be confirmed and side effects will be examined and improved. All this research work is necessary so that the ultimate consumer gets nothing but the best.

As the pharmaceutical industry grows on a worldwide scale there is much more competition. So that drugs cannot be marketed in such a way that they damage their competitors, the marketing of drugs is also controlled by the FDA.
